Peggy
Lee, discovered by Benny Goodman
in 1940 and immediately engaged in his big band, was mainly
influenced by Lady Day. This explains her
musical importance as a vocalist for a period of almost fifty
years in the history of the American jazz singing. Paola
Arnesano, had the chance to listen to Peggy Lee even
before Billie Holiday. So - as Michela Lombardi
did with her adored Irene Kral - Paola thought about paying
Peggy Lee a tribute with this beautiful record after seven
years from her death. Because of her dedication to that extraordinary
white singer - still unknown to the majority of people - I
have decided to present it in the Revelation Series of my
Philology. Paola confirms her talent as a
refined and sensitive interpreter, who is easy and relaxed,
never extravagant: she is herself a Revelation!
